To start Studio 02, I explored how to take historical context from a larger scale to create a water taxi station. The pattern of the roof structure matches the shape of the harbor, and the perforations represent the tracks that boats take. Drawings are produced with Rhino 07 and Enscape.
The next exploration incorporated the program into a building for the first time, allowing me to explore flow and logic within a building while making it beautiful on the outside. I also played with materials and two-story spaces to tell a story about the building and the interaction between the architecture and the students. This site was challenging, having a large grade change from the front of the side to the back. Images produced with Procreate, Rhino, and Enscape.
Finally, the semester finished by incorporating challenging topography, playful form, and program needs into one project with the poetry retreat. This project taught me to 'have fun', I drew out of the lines, and I went based on an instinct to create pleasant pockets of space that related to the existing site I was provided. I also played in the section, creating towers and different levels that reflected in the programmatic use.
